Rodeo Information
The
Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo has been held annually since 1941 in early August.
This rodeo is a major stop on the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association
(PRCA) circuit. It's purse of more than $150,000 makes it the 2nd largest
rodeo in Colorado (after Denver's National Western Stock Show), and 19th
largest in North America. Events are held at Penrose Stadium, 1045 W.
Rio Grande Avenue off of Fountain Creek Boulevard. Various events around
the city, including a parade and a street breakfast, mark rodeo week.
Please call 719-635-3547 for more information.
The National Western Stock Show and Rodeo (tel. 303/297-1166) is held
the second and third weeks of January, with the rodeo at the Denver Coliseum
and other activities at the National Western Complex and the Event Center.
With more than $500,000 available in prize money, this is one of the world's
richest rodeos.
